Link Building Tip #4 Exchanges

Link Building Tip #4 Exchanges for Links
Find websites you wish to have your link on and ask them for a link exchange. Seems simple, but maybe it is a high traffic website and you are having no luck with getting them to exchange. Try something different, offer them something of value for that link. Maybe you can right an article or a review for them? Give them text content that is useful to them. Other things you can offer, graphics, hosting, templates, or coding. What are you excellent at? Offer them something that you can do, it can work out to be the perfect exchange for both you and them.

Link Building Tip #3 Competitors Backlinks

Link Building Tip #3 Use Your Competitors Backlinks
Find out what sites are linking to your competitors and try to get links from those places as well. Aaron Wall of SEO Book has came up with an excellent tool to help you find out all the information you want! It is also handy for finding out about your own backlinks!

The tool also allows you to download some of the information in CSV format! The button will appear at the top of the results page next to my logo. The backlink tool gives you information like how many class c’s are linked to that domain, how many com’s, edu’s, org’s, ect. as well as IP and much more.

I have added the backlink tool to this website, feel free to use my mirror of the tool.

Link Building Tip #2 Multiple Anchor Text

Link Building Tip #2 Use Multiple Anchor Text
When building links or requesting others to link to you, it is better to use multiple anchor text. Anchor text is the text you give the person to use to link to you with. This is my anchor text.

For those sites that ask others to link to you, like link lists or TGP’s. It is a good idea to give them multiple anchor text to choose from. But I wouldn’t stop there, it isn’t a bad idea to swap those out once a month or more, depending how many links per day you are getting.

Link Building Tip #1 High PR Links

Link Building Tips
Okay since I got a little more into link building in the last couple articles, I thought I would go on to doing some Link Building Tips. Just link building tips. I think I could do a tip a day for 2 months easily. So here is the first one.

Link Building Tip 1
Finding High PR websites to do link exchanges or submissions to. Does anyone know the best place to find these types of websites? Do you think you need some software to dig out these truely hard to find jems?

Well put away your cash, unless you want to send it to me (I take paypal, visa, mastercard, american express and soon to add checks)…okay here it is…the best place to find High PR websites to trade links with:

http://directory.google.com/

Google Directory is a wonderful place to find those high PR websites to trade links with, really it is amazing, they even categorize the links for you. You can find themes that work well with your website. And do you believe that the webmaster that built that website picked the theme they are categorized in? So when you go to their site it should be a pretty relevant link trade.

They even have an Adult section:
http://www.google.com/Top/Adult?tc=1/

How perfect is that? Now only 59 more days of tips to go :)

Basic Linking Building

Basic SEO Linking Building
Find sites to submit your website to or trade links with. There are many ways to find link trades or websites to submit to. Some are webmaster boards, friends, search engines and directories.

Search Engines are a great place to find sites you can request a trade with or submit to. Try searching for the keyword your site is themed for, like add url+keyword, or submit link+keyword, etc.

Directories are an excellent source to find sites that are in the same niche as your own. Try contacting the owner to get a link trade going.

Create a List
Whenever you do any research for link building, create a list of the sites you find. You have spent valuable time finding these sites; this is time you can save later.

You can create this list in Excel, html or Word. Whatever program you feel comfortable using. I do prefer Excel because I can add notes easily and add new tabs for different niches or unique sites I find.

Filter Your Link Building List
Okay; now I know you are thinking, what the hell is she talking about? Filter my list? Filter it for what? Well filter it for IP’s is the first step. Use IP Report to find out if your list has separate Class C IP’s. IP Report is free to use, and you can find duplicate IP’s easily. There are other ways I’m sure but this site is the one I use.

Organize Your Link Building List
Once you have gone through your list, you can move some trades or links with the same class C IP to the bottom of your list. Why to the bottom? Well this time you probably won’t submit to them, but for another site later on you might use them.

Prioritize your list, submit to all the places that are on different class C IP’s first. Submit to any that you know you will get traffic from as well.

Save Your Link Building List
This list is a time saving tool for you in the future, so save it! Good luck with building your own valuable link building list.

Tips:

Check out the site that you are asking for links from. Make sure they aren’t using any type of script on their links. Directories or top lists that track clicks are usually not worth the time if you are looking for links for SEO purposes. Also, sites that are scripts that spiders can’t index won’t be great for link building purposes. A link with many variables like: http://site.com/script.cgi?variable=this&varaible=that&page=thisone&site=thatone probably isn’t getting indexed so a link on that page to your site probably isn’t going to help you much.

Anchor text for links you are building (you know the external links, the ones that you are getting to link to your site).

Mix the anchor text up! I don’t know how many times a person has asked me why they are sandboxed or how come they have 1,000’s of links to their site but are still on page 10 on Google. My first question to them is usually, “what text are you using in the links to you?” They usually say their keyword phrase. I tell them to vary that, they tell me, “No I heard to use that.” I tell them to vary that. They tell me they don’t think that is it. Then 3-4 weeks later they are still not sure what the problem is. I tell them the same thing I said before. They finally give that a try, and their rankings start to rise. Example, if you are going for Adult Toys, instead of building all your links with the term “adult toys” try varying that with Adult Toy Store, Adult Toy Stores, Sex Toys, Adult Sex Toys, Sex Toy Store, AdultToys, SexToys, etc. (another hint, easy rankings are usually misspelled words and phrases with no spaces!) I usually do 50-60% for my main keyword and vary the other 40-50%.

Internal Link Structure

SEO the Internal Link Structure
We have already gone over some basic internal linking in the content optimization. One thing to remember is to always link back to the main page of your website. Decide whether that page is your entry page or the page they go to if they click enter. Always link back to the page you pick.

Site Map
Create a sitemap and keep it updated. Link to every section and page you put on your domain. If you just build galleries everyday and don’t mess with AVS sites or free sites, making a sitemap and linking to your own galleries, plus listing them again after the warning page, should keep your galleries indexed. Also a blog could be a wonderful way to present your own galleries daily and keep them indexed.

Tips:
Don’t use keywords in your links for the page your building, use keywords for what the link is going to! If your main page theme is general porn, but the thumb or link is about blowjobs, use blowjob keywords.

Try other maps of your website!

Product Map
If you sell products, then make a product map for your site as well. Link to any pages you build that are just for the products. Also, link to the buy pages. So you have a link directly to your page, but then have a “buy product now” link as well. Buy pages can be either your own store buy page if you own the store or, to the sponsors buy page. If someone is looking for a jackrabbit vibrator and lands on your product map, why not try to send them directly to the page they can buy from. (Hint: try using keywords that would match someone wanting to buy! Example: buy jackrabbit vibrator (as your anchor text). Someone searching for “buy jack rabbit vibrator” is ready to buy now! Someone searching for jack rabbit vibrator may just want to see what it looks like. Sometimes terms less searched for are not only easier to rank for, but convert much better!

Niche Map
If you have several niches on your domain. Make a map of all your niches, link to each niche. You can even have separate niche maps if you have too many. Link to every map you build on all your pages. Link back to the main index from all pages. If your site is small and you can link to every page on every page, then do it. Thinking of it as showing the most unfamiliar surfer how to get around your site. You know, the one that thinks email@emailsite.com is a website or a link is the blue words that they can click. If they can find it, then a bot can too (assuming you are not using a script that bots can’t index).

Pre Sale Pages

SEO Pre Sale Pages
The other night I was discussing Pre Sale Pages with Aaron Wall from SEO Book. They have been around for awhile. Are they better than just a link? I think so, I have used them on many sites.

It is common in affiliate marketing for affiliates to host pages on their sites which warm up prospective clients prior to selling supplies on another site. If done correctly pre sell pages can have a positive effect on both conversion and SEO.

Step 6 - Building Your Free Site & Maps

If you haven’t read steps 1-5, then you can find them below:
Step 1 - Picking a domain name
Step 2 - Research the niche
Step 3 - Building your site template
Step 4 - Building Your Gallery
Step 5 - Building Picture Pages

Building The Free Part Of Your Adult Website
Again you want to start with the template we already made in the first step. On the first page you should have a warning (depending on your laws) that it is an adult site. If you can put some content up, a picture or thumbs. Even a sexy design. This is your choice. Remember to use Alt tags on any image you link to another part of your website.

Again you have the ads to other products, you can adjust the headers and the text links for them. Make them a little different to capture more keywords if you like.

Change the header (H1) text at the top of the page to Welcome them with the keyword in it. Add text content about your niche or theme, with keywords bold, or italic. Link within that text to area’s in your site. Example: This Niche is so hot, check out my Niche Gallery (link niche gallery to your gallery page).

Finally link into your main page or your gallery page.

Sitemap
Create a sitemap and keep it updated. Link to every section and page you put on your domain. If you just build galleries everyday and don’t mess with AVS sites or free sites, making a sitemap and linking to your own galleries, plus listing them again after the warning page, should keep your galleries indexed.

Product Map
If you sell products, like Joe Bucks, then make a product map for your site as well. Link to any pages you build that are just for the products. Also, link to the buy pages. So you have a link directly to your page, but then have a buy product now link as well.

Niche Map
If you have several niches on your domain. Make a map of all your niches, link to each niche. You can even seperate niche maps if you have too many.

Link to every map you build on all your pages. Link back to the main index from all page (which you already did in your template and the head image of your template ;) )

It is always good to link to internal pages within your site. If you can link to every page on every page, then do it. Thinking of it as showing even the most unfamiliar surfer (the dummy that thinks email@emailsite.com is a website), how to find things on your site. If they can find it, a bot can too.

AVS Section
Use the same concepts when building your avs section of your website. If you need a good tutorial for avs sites then check out baddog byte’s. I will most likely do an AVS in the future, but baddog has it covered.

Coming Up - Link Building and More
Soon we will go over link building. Steps to save you time and get you better links. As well as more on host crowding and avoiding Googles duplicate filter.

What is SEO? SEO Theories and Facts

We will continue the tutorials throughout the coming weeks. Don’t think I forgot ;) More steps will be coming.

SEO Defined
Many people have different definitions of what exactly search engine optimization is. Today over at Make You Go Hmm, I have posted an article defining SEO. It also takes a deeper look at what search engine optimization includes.

If you want to get ahead with search engine optimization, I highly suggest you get a copy of SEO Book!

SEO Theories and Fact
Many seo theories or questions have been floating around about if your web host, shared IP or static IP can effect your rankings in Google. Many suggest different Class C IP’s can increase your chances of optimizing successfully. But many don’t place in facts with their assumptions.

Experience Fact
A few years back when the first wave of can my website IP effect my Google rankings hit, I decided to try switching some of my websites to their own static IP.

The Effect

Within weeks all sites increased ranking positions or ranked better. Of course, that doesn’t mean these will rank now, since Google has changed and is always changing.

Fact In Print

Google API Facts: Automatic Filtering

When enabled, filtering takes the following actions:

* Near-Duplicate Content Filter = If multiple search results contain identical titles and snippets, then only one of the documents is returned.
* Host Crowding = If multiple results come from the same Web host, then only the first two are returned.

Only the first two will be returned? What does host crowding mean? Are they looking at hosts by IP’s? Or by Class of IP’s? Are they looking at it by name servers? Maybe they are doing a whois on your site? Oh no!!!

Many huff and puff saying no way. Well it is right there in print, they are filtering out somehow. Calling it “Host Crowding". They mention same web host.

What can you do? Well I suggest doing what you are capable or can do to continue getting the traffic you want for your business. Am I saying start setting sites on different hosts? Really that is completely up to you. But if you want to optimize in every way you can, you should. Also to do that you need to figure out what exactly do they mean by “Host Crowding”. The best way to do that, is to make changes, keep a log of what you did and what happens.

Why discount anything that can have an effect on your rankings? If it is an easy fix or a reasonable change, I would do it.

I highly recommend Joe Bucks. Joe Bucks Herbal Affiliate Program offering you several ways to promote their products. From text links, banner ads, and branded websites.

Step 5 - Building Picture Pages

If you haven’t read steps 1-4, then you can find them below:
Step 1 - Picking a domain name
Step 2 - Research the niche
Step 3 - Building your site template
Step 4 - Building Your Gallery

Building Picture Pages
Now that you have a great optimized gallery that you can use for TGP’s. It is time to build the picture pages. Putting your pictures in html for AVS and Free Sites is the best way for search engines. It will give your site more pages for spiders to find and index (especially for free sites).

Template
It is time to get your template page out once again. You will want to size the larger picture to fit nicely on the page. Since the template already has Joe Buck and Adult Friend Finder ads on the side and bottom, you already have some ads on the page.

Meta Tags and Text Content
After you place the larger image on the page, you will want to change the meta tags to reflect the content that is shown in the image. Put a banner and text ad on the top of the page for the sponsor you are using (Remember we already picked the niche and a site from Xpays). Bold some of the keywords in the text you write. Not all of it, just some of the important keywords.

Linking
Now link the picture to the Xpays website you are promoting (use your affiliate link). If you are building for link reasons, then link directly to Xpays. If not, you want the traffic to hit your site first, then use the no follow code in the link. Also, add alt text for the picture using text that refers to the image and the niche.

Finally add a more link under the picture (more niche keywords). Link to the Xpays website you are promoting.

Repeat
Repeat this for every picture you have in your gallery. Make each one of these pages unique to your niche. Let it reflect what the image is about and use keywords for this niche.

Gallery Page
Open up your Gallery Template. Link to the pages instead of the images. Now you have a gallery that is perfect for Free Sites and AVS sites.

I highly recommend Joe Bucks. Joe Bucks Herbal Affiliate Program offering you several ways to promote their products. From text links, banner ads, and branded websites.

Step 4 - Building Your Gallery

If you haven’t read steps 1-3, then you can find them below:
Step 1 - Picking a domain name
Step 2 - Research the niche
Step 3 - Building your site template

Building Your Gallery
First open the template page you already made. Save it as gallerytemplate. Now you need to add a table with cells for your thumbs. I usually do 4 columns and 5 rows. Merge the middle row (row 3) to make 1 long cell. Place your Header 2 Text in that area.

Many webmasters have their own style and preferences for thumb sizes and layout of thumbs on a page. This is fine, do it your way and maybe adjust some things to optimize the content for search engines by following the suggestions in this step.

Optimize Thumb Links
Place your thumbs in the top 8 cells and the bottom 8 cells. Link them like you usually do. For each thumb add some text in the alt image field, alt=Niche Keyword Phrase. Try to use your keywords, but also explain what the picture is about. Keep it short, 5-6 words if possible.

Optimize Header Text and Content Text
Now on your top header text use your main niche keyword phrase. In a cell under that, add some text about the content and sponsor. Link to the sponsor using good keyword phrases, not just their name. If you are using an SEO Friendly Affiliate Program, use the no follow link on your links to them or if your really good at link building, don’t.

Now in the middle cell, optimize that Header 2 with another good keyword phrase. Again add some text under that with information on the image content and sponsor. Link to the sponsor with good keywords like you did above.

Other Sponsor Ads
Other sponsor ads like Joebucks and Adult Friend Finders we will be putting in the side ad box and bottom ad box you made previously. Again you need to set the Header 3 text for these boxes to use keywords for these sponsors.

Instead of using regular banners or buttons with Joe Bucks. Try using images of the products for joe bucks with some text.

For Adult Friend Finders, try just text ads. Make them look like personal ads.

For both of these sponsors, do some research if you haven’t used them before. Just like we did in Step 1. This will help you decide the keywords you want to use in your ads and text links. I know most webmasters want to build as much as they can. Trust me, if you take the time to do a little research now, you will make more for your time later.

Optimized Meta Tags and Links
Now your gallery is starting to look really good. It is time to adjust your title, meta tags and header link. Change these to fit the content you have on the page. Use the keywords you just used in the page. The header link and home link should still be the main keyword you are targeting.

Gallery Complete and Optimized
Now your gallery is ready and optimized. Look through it, check your research and tweak anything you missed. I know many are thinking, this will never work for submitting to TGP’s. But this one was built for a basic template, it will be adjusted for free, tgp and avs later. If you want to use it for TGP’s, adjust it a little to work. Save it as tgpgallery and remove the extra ads.

We will go over changing it again for AVS later. But you can head over to baddog byte’s for tutorials on that now.

I highly recommend Joe Bucks. Joe Bucks Herbal Affiliate Program offering you several ways to promote their products. From text links, banner ads, and branded websites.
