search engine optimization" is hyperlinked to the

These words are call anchor text.
Why
should you care about anchor text? This text is what helps
create relevance to the page it is linked to. So in easy
to understand terms, if you have a page about Search
Engine Optimization and link to that page with the anchor
text "Search Engine Optimization"
then you are providing enhanced relevancy to that page.
Why should I care if the anchor text is relevant? If a search
engine finds several links to your page about Search
Engine Optimization and the content on the page is about
Search Engine Optimization. Then the search engine is going
to rank it higher for that term or phrase.
