Analyze
Your Competition
To
analyze your competition first start with doing a search
on Google and Yahoo! with the main keyword or phrase you
are targeting.
So
who is your competition? Every listing that is found when
searching that keyword or phrase. But lets focus on the
top 5 - 10.
Here
are some things to look at when looking at your competitors
pages.

HTML
Code (in I.E. click view>source). Look at the meta
tags, keywords in the page, keyword density and weight,
how they are placed in the page and look at the alt tags.

Check
the link popularity. Hopefully you have the Google toolbar,
use it to check the backlinks. There also are many link
popularity tools online that you can use.

Check
out the url, folder and page name. Are they using keywords
in any of them?
Use
this information to help improve your own rankings. When checking
backlinks through Google, you can find the places that traded
links with your competition. Go submit your site there.
There
